M.Ed, RP, CCC,

Registered Psychotherapist

I provide therapy for developmental trauma and trauma-related issues such as emotion dysregulation, relationship and attachment difficulties, ambivalence, intrusive memories, and dissociation.

Complex and Developmental Trauma can make it difficult to regulate your emotions, understand and communicate your wants and needs, feel safe and loved in relationships, trust people, feel a normal range of emotions, and regulate your stress levels. People who have experienced trauma early on in life may also feel like they often zone out and are unable to remember chunks of their day. They may feel like they are watching their life from outside of themselves or looking through a haze.

A history of trauma leads to a range of peripheral issues such as depression, anxiety, panic, personality disorders, insecure attachment, eating disorders and substance or behavioral addictions.

My main approach is psychodynamic, meaning that I focus on building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship where you are free to explore difficult topics and how you relate to others. This approach cultivates curiosity about how your upbringing has influenced your current thinking, feeling, and behaviour. Psychodynamic therapy can be especially helpful in understanding recurring patterns in your life and relationships and is
geared towards profound healing and long-lasting relief.

I additionally use Emotion-Focused and “Parts Work” approaches to help you understand what your emotions are trying to tell you and to connect with your inner child. I provide practical skills for grounding and self-soothing and a space to practice until they become second nature.

My practice is queer-friendly and provides a safe space for asexual individuals to explore issues related to gender and sexuality.

Seemingly impossible situations can feel manageable when you have help. We can work together to help you feel okay and supported. I encourage you to reach out by email or book a free consultation online.
